All Financial Literacy and pre-purchase counseling sessions are offered to anyone in need of such services and are offered in a one-on-one setting. Financial Literacy services can include, but are not limited to, helping clients improve their credit, reduce debt, create and stick to a budget, and more. Pre-purchase counseling is for individuals and families that are interested in purchasing a home. DHC recommends first-time homebuyers start with pre-purchase counseling to be educated on the process of homeownership, including information on spending, saving, budgeting, credit and debt evaluation, how much home you can afford, how to choose a mortgage, and home maintenance.
Additionally, the counselor works closely with the Town of Davidson to qualify buyers for their affordable housing program and Down Payment Assistance. Learn more about the Town of Davidson’s affordable home ownership program or call Cindy Reid, the Affordable Housing Manager, at 704-940-9605.
