Holidays for Hope & Housing – DECEMBER 14th @ 6:00 PM –
Davidson Housing Coalition’s annual holiday tradition, Holidays for Hope & Housing, returns for its 19th year. This holiday event began years ago in Davidson, as a way for the community to celebrate the holidays with the lighting of luminaria while celebrating a good cause. The warm glow on a wintry December night caught the attention, and affection, of other communities who quickly joined in the festivities.
In recent years, the interest in Holidays for Hope & Housing grew, prompting Davidson Housing Coalition to expand the event throughout neighboring towns. Last year, DHC created more than 12,000 luminaria and raised more than $60,000 for the organization’s programs and services. Residents of Davidson and Cornelius neighborhoods joined in with delight, as more than 900 families participated.
Preparations are underway for this year’s lighting, to be held at 6pm on Saturday, December 14th. Letters to participating streets and/or neighborhoods will be delivered between November 22th and December 7th. Sets of luminaria, eight sand-filled paper bags and candles, will be available with a donation. For more information, please visit www.davidsonhousing.org/donate.
