Our Commitment
Home is indeed where we start.
For nearly 30 years, Davidson Housing Coalition has worked to ensure that safe haven is available to all who wish to call Davidson home, regardless of their income.
We work in partnership with elected officials, other local nonprofits, and, most importantly, our neighbors to protect and expand our town’s inventory of affordable housing. Our work reflects a long-standing and deeply-held civic value:
We believe that Davidson’s vitality derives from its historically rich mix of experiences, talents, and perspectives that citizens of all backgrounds and means offer our community. To that end, DHC provides access to affordable rentals and opportunities for affordable homeownership for residents whose incomes are 80% or less than the area’s median income.
At Davidson Housing Coalition, we’re committed to keeping Davidson’s doors open to all by building and maintaining access to high-quality, affordable homes.
We love calling Davidson home, and we think that choice should be open to everyone, regardless of their income bracket. We urge you to join us in this effort because home is where we all start.
Our Communities
The Bungalows
DHC’s 1st Affordable Rental Neighborhood
Our first affordable rental community, The Bungalows opened in 2001. Residents enjoy private entrances with porches or small balconies, as well as washers and dryers in every unit. This community consists of 32 units, including 1-, 2-, and 3- bedroom homes. The Bungalows serve residents whose incomes represent 50% or less of area median income.
Creekside Corner
A Neighborhood Inspired by Partnership
This scattered site affordable rental community encircles Davidson’s Mock Circle/Mock Road neighborhood. Opened in 2005 and spurred by a generous land donation by Davidson College, this community includes 4 reserved units for veterans with limited incomes, as well as 20 apartment homes for residents whose incomes represent 80% or less of area median income. Coming soon: 3-4 new apartments by 2026!
The Cottages on Jetton
Units in NC’s KEY Program
Located adjacent to The Bungalows, the Cottages on Jetton provide 4 accesible units for residents with disabilities. Vacancies are filled in coordination with the North Carolina KEY program, a partnership of the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency (NCHFA) and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). PARTNER SPOTLIGHT: Community School of Davidson
We’re celebrating Year 2 of our partnership with Community School of Davidson students. High school students who are interested in the skilled trades meet weekly as a class in our Creekside community to work on construction and repair projects side by side with industry professionals. Service advisory groups visit monthly to help with special projects, including assembling luminaria kits for our annual Holidays for Hope and Housing fundraiser. CSD’s 8th grade art classes create special ornaments for us every year for the DHC Giving Tree at the Town’s Christmas in Davidson celebration.
